Hire terms
Last updated 16 July 2026
These terms apply to equipment hired from Playday Party Hire. We’ll confirm the specific items, date, times, price and collection or delivery arrangements with you before accepting a booking.
Booking and payment
- An enquiry does not reserve your date.
- Your booking is confirmed when we accept it and receive the $20 booking deposit.
- The $20 deposit forms part of the hire price and is deducted from the balance—it is not a separate damage bond.
- Unless we agree otherwise, the remaining balance is due after the booking. You may pay it earlier if you prefer.
- Delivery, when offered, costs extra and will be quoted and agreed before the booking.
Cancellations
- Cancel at least 48 hours before the agreed booking start time and we will refund all amounts paid, including the $20 deposit.
- If you cancel within 48 hours of the booking start time, we will keep the $20 booking deposit. Any other amount you have paid will be refunded.
- If we have to cancel because we cannot supply the agreed equipment, we will refund all amounts you have paid. This does not limit any rights you have under New Zealand consumer law.
Collection, delivery and return
- Collection from Porirua is free. You must collect and return the equipment at the times we agree with you.
- Delivery is limited, subject to availability, separately quoted, and only confirmed when we agree it in writing.
- Please tell us promptly if you expect to be late. Any additional charge must be reasonable and agreed or reflect an actual extra cost caused by the delay.
Cleaning, care and damage
- Normal party mess is expected. You may return the equipment dirty and ordinary cleaning is included in the hire price.
- You are responsible for taking reasonable care of the equipment while it is in your possession and using it only for its intended purpose.
- Tell us as soon as possible if anything is lost, damaged or stops working. Do not continue using equipment that appears unsafe.
- You may be charged the reasonable cost of repairing damage beyond normal wear and tear, or replacing equipment that is lost or damaged beyond economical repair. We will explain and support any charge.
- There is currently no separate refundable damage bond.
Candy-floss machine safety
An adult must supervise and operate the candy-floss machine, follow the supplied instructions, keep children away from hot and moving parts, and use the machine on a stable, dry surface with a suitable power supply.
Our responsibilities and your rights
We will provide the agreed equipment in a condition suitable for its intended use. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, including rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986.
